ARW Blogging Assignment

The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy helps him.
Three adjectives that describe Santiago are patient, confidence, and old. First, I describe he is patient because he kept trying to get a fish for eighty-four days even if he didn`t take a fish. If he hadn`t been patient, he would have stopped taking a fish. Second, I describe he is confidence because the word of "confidence" is written in many times in the book when the author defined him. For example, "The old man looked at him with his sun-burned, confident loving eyes"(page-13), and "His hope and his confidence had never gone"(page-13). He said these words to a boy kindly as if he was his grandfather. Third,I describe he is old because he had deep wrinkles in the back of his neck and the brown blotches of the benevolent skin cancer the sun brings from its reflection on the tropical sea on his cheek. In addition, his hand had the deep-creased(page9-10). We can see that he is very old by his face and hands.
Two adjectives that describe Manolin are kind and child. First, I think he is kind because he felt sad that old man come with his skiff empty, and he always went down to help him carry many equipments.(page9) He often helped the old man kindly.
Second, I describe that he is a still child because he had to obey his family, father, and he didn`t have a power to decide and do what he wanted to.
