ASP Discussion~Island

We had a discussion about the 12 tools which we use in the isolate island. It is difficult to choose, but I think bottles are the most important item to live for a long time because we need water firstly, and if we have some bottles of water, we can carry them and go everywhere. In addition, matches are very important thing for living. If we can make a fire, we can cook and use it as a light.

ARW Blogging Assignment 6

The most useful approach to use in critically analyzing The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway is Santiago as a christ Figure because there are many phrases that imply Santiago is a Christian. He always thanks the living things in the sea when he eats fish. When Paul showed some examples which are Santiago as Christ figure, I thought Hemmingway might write this story with the connection between Santiago and Christ.

ASP Asiignment P&D

We practiced P&D about Meiland today, and I presented "New Types of Intellectual Work". This part has many information and repeats the same words by changing the phrases and words. In my presentation, I couldn`t explain the content well, and said the same words in many times. Also, I didn`t use expressions that signal a new idea or topic when I change the subjects . I think it was difficult for listener to understand clearly. Next time, I should improve these bad points .

ASP Assignment Presentation Google document

I learned the way of making a presentation on google document on Tuesday, and I was very surprised to get some images or pictures and movies easily. It is very useful to make a power point, and it makes presentation interesting. I also think it is a good point that we can share our power point on the Internet. We don`t have to meet all members of a group at the same time. We can share the ideas on the Internet, so it is a good advantage to make a power point in a short time.

ARW Blogging Assignment

The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy helps him.
Three adjectives that describe Santiago are patient, confidence, and old. First, I describe he is patient because he kept trying to get a fish for eighty-four days even if he didn`t take a fish. If he hadn`t been patient, he would have stopped taking a fish. Second, I describe he is confidence because the word of "confidence" is written in many times in the book when the author defined him. For example, "The old man looked at him with his sun-burned, confident loving eyes"(page-13), and "His hope and his confidence had never gone"(page-13). He said these words to a boy kindly as if he was his grandfather. Third,I describe he is old because he had deep wrinkles in the back of his neck and the brown blotches of the benevolent skin cancer the sun brings from its reflection on the tropical sea on his cheek. In addition, his hand had the deep-creased(page9-10). We can see that he is very old by his face and hands.
Two adjectives that describe Manolin are kind and child. First, I think he is kind because he felt sad that old man come with his skiff empty, and he always went down to help him carry many equipments.(page9) He often helped the old man kindly.
Second, I describe that he is a still child because he had to obey his family, father, and he didn`t have a power to decide and do what he wanted to.

ASP Assignment Presentation

We learned thw ways of a good presentation on Friday. A good presentation is made up of content information, structure, and delivery. I think content information is very important to tell people something because it is necessary to understand what we talk about by ourselves, and gather a lot of information about the topic. It takes time and it`s so hard to understand everything, but the preparations helps people to make sense of presentation easily. Structure and delivery are also significant. Structure helps people understand smoothly, and delivery with eye contact makes listeners consentrate on attending the speech. I learned that we need three factors to do a good presentation.
